چکیده
Abstract Aim Pulmonary embolectomy involves the surgical removal of a thrombus from pulmonary tree, with most popular approaches being (SE), percutaneous (PPE) and minimally invasive thoracotomy (MIT). The latter two new techniques are gradually increasing in popularity treatment acute embolism (PE) due to reduced recovery times. This study aims evaluate compare clinical outcomes three aforementioned PE. Method A literature review was performed PUBMED identify studies reporting these interventions. 79 papers were included, involving total 2445 patients. Patients’ baseline characteristics perioperative status, inpatient mortality rates complication each intervention group individually assessed compared. Results Among all interventions, SE demonstrated highest in-patient rate (20.8%). Patients receiving also more likely have (2.8%) other postoperative bleeding (7.4%). PPE patients develop gastrointestinal site complications (4%). Scatter graph showed declining trend over time (R²=0.50). Conclusions All methods effective treating PE, while decreasing time. Further research on MIT is needed define its place

Pulmonary embolism is a common clinical condition associated with high mortality. Surgical pulmonary embolectomy (SPE), despite having been in existence for over 100 years, is generally regarded as an option of last resort with high mortality rates. Prompt recognition of predictors of mortality, such as right ventricular stress on echocardiography, helps decision-making for immediate surgical p...

A case of haemorrhagic pulmonary oedema after successful pulmonary embolectomy is presented. The relevant literature is reviewed. Thirteen cases are analysed as well as the four survivors. The aetiology appears to be ischaemic damage of the capillary bed. This had previously been called incomplete infarction by Castleman. The incidence is low after acute pulmonary embolectomies but appears to b...
